10th Anniversary Celebration!
On October 23, 2009, The Village Family Services gathered friends and supporters to share a milestone in an incredible journey – the agency’s celebration of ten years of service to the community.
The evening event was attended by more than 150 guests who enjoyed the elegant surroundings of the Royal Suite at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel, sampled delicious hors d’oeuvres, mingled with friends, and took part in a silent auction full of wonderful items.
The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the inaugural Children’s Voices Awards to two distinguished honorees - Dr. Charles Sophy, Medical Director for the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services, and Emmy-nominated writer and award-winning television producer, Neal Baer, M.D. Dr. Sophy was honored for his tireless commitment to the health and welfare of the children and families in Los Angeles County. Dr. Baer was selected for his advocacy and unwavering support for children and adolescents. In their acceptance remarks, both honorees commented on the vast amount of work to be done on behalf of underserved children and acknowledged the agency’s leadership role in the community.
Thanks to generous sponsors, ticket sales and the silent auction, the event raised more than expected, which will be used to support agency programs and services that are not covered by other income sources.
As a parting gift, each guest received a packet of greeting cards with artwork created by children who are clients of the agency. The cards include designs for the holidays, special occasions and all-purpose uses. To order cards, click here
